Even if it was grosser, and an even worse adaption, this movie made me laugh, smile, and related to real issues with siblings, and thats the reason it was really good tome. I laughed at the comedy, and it felt just as strong as the original, but some of the Fregley jokes were just gross and not funny. This adaption stays even further away from the book, and I didn't like that, although there were some moments I was happy they put in, gave it more of a better ending. Greg and Rodricks relationship deals with sibling rivalries, which we all know, but it also deals with in the end we may hate our siblings, but deep down we like em, or even love them, I should know I have 2 siblings. The cast is better than before in my opinion, a lot funnier, great comedians, and proves this could be a good series.

Steve Zahn and Rachael Harris, as the parents again, make short but as usual great addition to the film. The cast however do not let down, with excellent performances from Zachary Gordon and especially Devon Bostick, who really shines throughout the ninety minutes. However, for younger children, the main focus of the audience, it dawdles and loses much of the slapstick and gag centred comedy of the first. The Accelerated Reader test level is 5.3 but the test and the book are not that hard. I think this book is for 4th to 8th grades because it’s a little hard to read, but if you’re a 3 grader and you read well you can read it. There’s a movie too but the book is better because they change some stuff in the movie. If I were a character in this book, I would be Manny because he is funny and gets whatever he wants and when he does something bad he doesn’t get in trouble. I like it also because I like funny and interesting things. This book is really cool because it made me laugh on many pages. Its a hilarious film filled with outrageous antics, but also a surprisingly authentic look at brotherhood and sibling bonds that give the film a strong, beating heart to accompany the movies more larger-than-life shenanigans. The thing that makes it interesting is the characters because the main characters do funny stuff like once Rodrick forgot to pick up Greg from swimming classes. This book is about Greg and Rodrick fighting and doing some petty funny stuff in this book. If you are sad or bored this book with make you have a good laugh. I recommend this book to people from third grade up. I liked this book because it makes me laugh and has good illustrations. Greg got the cheese touch and in this book there's a new kid, so he gave it to him. So he tried to convince his dad to let him do water jazz instead, but he didn't go for it. Greg had a bad summer because his dad made him join the swim team. Greg has a new journal and his brother Rocdrick is picking on him because Greg's journal isn't a journal, it's a diary.
Without these characters this book would be nothing. It has three main characters, Greg, Rodrick, and Rowley.
